MathModelica Lite
With the release of MathModelica version 2.1, MathModelica Lite is replaced by a new edition called MathModelica Student.
The main motivation for this change is that we could see that MathModelica Lite was too limited for efficient use by its intended group of users, namely university students.
As MathModelica Lite relied purely on the OpenModelica kernel it could not take advantage of all the additions made to the MathModelica kernel. With the introduction of MathModelica Student this will no longer be the case. Instead the kernel used in MathModelica Professional is now also used in the Student edition. As a result, users will experience a much improved model library support, modeling capabilities, and simulation performance. Furthermore, the installation process is simplified as it is now only consists of a single installation file.
With the release of MathModelica Student we will still be able to provide university students with a modeling and simulation environment at a very attractive price, while at the same time giving them access to the full power of the MathModelica Professional kernel.
