MathLetter #1, July 2007
MathModelica — New version released on July 20
Version 1.2 of MathModelica System Designer and MathModelica System Designer Professional includes several new features, including support for several new libraries.
New and improved libraries
The new version includes support for the following new libraries:
- Thermal - Library to model heat transfer
- Multiphase - Components intended to making design of multiphase models easier (part of the Electrical library)
- BioChem - Library for modeling of biochemical pathways
- BondLib - Implements the methodology of modeling physical systems using bond graphs
- Magnetic - This library contains components to model magnetic actuators and drives
The Thermal, and Multiphase libraries are included in the distribution, while the BioChem, BondLib, and Magentic, will be made available for free download during summer 2007.
The already included libraries have also been updated with several new models as well as improved documentation.
You can read more about the libraries here.
Improved user interface
The first thing you will notice when you start the new version of MathModelica is the improved and more modern look of the user interface, but the release is not limited to an updated user interface. A lot has happened under the hood as well. The error messages in the model editor have been greatly improved to make it easier to find and correct errors in models. Thanks to much improved support for graphics and better rendering techniques, such as anti-aliasing, it is now possible to create even better looking icons and diagrams for your models. Simulation Center now supports parametric plots and all plots are customizable when it comes to colors, style, and patterns.
These are just a few of the improvements in this release. No matter if you are new to MathModelica or have evaluated an earlier version, we recommend you to take a closer look at this release by downloading a trial and signing up for a MathModelica seminar.

Mathematica 6 connectivity
With the introduction of Mathematica 6 Wolfram Research reinvented Mathematica introducing a sweeping unification of language and interface concepts that makes possible a new level of automation in algorithmic computation, interactive manipulation and dynamic presentation—as well as a whole new way of interacting with the world of data. With the new MathModelica System Designer Professional you can connect and interact with Mathematica 6, which supplies you with an unparalleled analysis capability, and making it easier then ever before to understand and improve your product or system.
